Industry and vertical, the persona of the decision maker you are calling, and whether or not your calling them on their cell phone, office line, or the general company number play a role in the best time to call to get a pickup and conversation.

According to data collected by ConnectAndSell of B2B SDR team from January 2022 to December 2022, mornings between 9 am and 11 am EST and afternoons between 3 pm and 5 pm EST yielded the lowest dial-to-conversation ratio with an average of 23.27 dials to conversation.

When is the worst time to cold call?

If you ask most SDR and Sales Managers “when should your reps be cold calling or prospecting?”, the consensus would be “All the time!” However, the data does show that there is a dropoff in the number of conversations in the afternoon between 12 pm EST and 3 pm EST.

To none’s surprise, Mondays and Fridays were lower in all categories which is to be expected given the beginning of the week generally includes catchup from the weekend, new immediate tasks and meetings on Monday, and the urge to get out the office and start your weekend early on Fridays.

The data on the best number to cold call prospects is undeniable, obvious, and doesn’t require a graph to illustrate. The main office number or Head Quarters had the worst conversation results.
